Alex Yang

Kim & Chang (Hong Kong)

Alex Yang is currently based in Hong Kong with the primary focus on the private equity fund and financial services industry at Kim & Chang. Prior to joining Kim & Chang, Alex was a partner at Ernst & Young’s Hong Kong office with the regional financial services tax leader role until May 2010. Alex also worked for Morgan Stanley at its Hong Kong office from 2001 to 2008 in its private equity Asia investment team and served in the investment committee and also as directors for various portfolio companies. Alex has been closely involved with many private equity fund raising and structuring, investment and due diligence in Korea, China, India and a number of other countries in Asia.

In the first several years with Morgan Stanley, Alex also had a role as its in-house tax and structuring professional responsible for various alternative funds in Asia, including real estate, infrastructure and private equity funds. Alex has also coordinated a number of government initiatives, law changes and rulings in Korea and other countries in Asia particularly for the financial services and private equity fund industry.

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Alex worked in New York with several international consulting firms, including international tax, structuring and transfer pricing areas. Alex graduated from NYU School of Law with JD and LLM (taxation) and an undergraduate degree in Economics at Binghamton University. Alex is admitted to a bar in the State of New York.
