Colin Dawson has been in the marine insurance industry for twenty seven years, starting his career in the Lloyd’s insurance market. Since 1994 he has been in Hong Kong. Specialising with yacht insurance since 1997 Colin built specialist divisions at two of the Hong Kong’s insurance brokers before setting up his own business known as The George Group Limited in 2009.  Colin has had extensive experience in the Asia Pacific region and has arranged covers for every size and type of yacht in most geographic locations around the world.

Outside of insurance, Colin takes keen interest in the yacht industry itself, being a Founder Member and Chairman (until 2016) of the Asia Pacific Superyacht Association.  He is also a keen sailor, taking part in some of the region’s regattas and offshore races on larger yachts.  He sits on the organising committee of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club’s San Fernando Race – a Category One offshore race from Hong Kong to the Philippines.  Colin is also a Director of the San Fernando Race Foundation, a Hong Kong charity that looks after a home for disadvantaged children in the northern Philippine town of San Fernando and is also the Co-Founder of The Elephant Society – a group raising awareness of the plight of the elephant and raises funds to help protect the species. In 2017 he founded The Elephant Foundation which focusses on education within the sphere of protecting elephants, rhinos and their habitats.
