The Securities and Futures Ordinance is one of the most
important, comprehensive and complicated pieces of legislation
enacted to date. With its 40 pieces of subsudiary legislations,
the SFO brings about many changes to the regulatory
framework of Hong Kong's financial industry. These changes
present deep and far-reaching implications to all market
players from both the securities and banking sectors,
the stock exchange, listed companies, and their respective
management and investors.
The
Securities and Futures Commission, as our honoured programme
sponsor, has contributed the valuable time of its senior
staff to act as our speakers. This conference presents
the first opportunity since the SFO came into effect
in April 2003 for market participants to interact with
the regulators in a pulic forum designed to better our
understnading of the SFO and its sub-legislations. This
is a major event in 2003 for Hong Kong's financial community
no to be missed.
